Deep roots in Texas
Images of Austin has been a family affair for two generations and more than 25 years. It got its start in the Doerr garage back in 1988 when we began framing Mary’s work for art shows. Friends and family started bringing us their projects, too, and we quickly developed a reputation for quality framing.
By 1995, we’d outgrown the garage and Mary had begun painting full time. Her companion, Ginny Findeisen, found our first shopfront on Burnet Road and opened Images of Austin to the public. Traveling to art shows and festivals around the state gave Mary and Ginny the opportunity to connect with many fine Texas artists over the years, and we’ve been honored to bring their work to the gallery and to you.
Branching out
In 1996, Mary’s daughter, Robin, came to work as a design consultant and framer after earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Texas at El Paso. She quickly developed a large client base with her eye-popping designs, and began to oversee the details of every project.
In 2007, Mary and Ginny retired and passed Images of Austin along to Robin to run as her own. Since then, Robin has expanded the gallery to include other notable artists and artisans from Austin and Texas, and is always keeping her eye out for new and great things. No matter how we grow and change, though, you can count on us to stay true to our roots with authentic work that reminds us of home.
